PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The December 6th Fund provides individualized support to people who have experienced violence and abuse.
PROGRAM SUPPORTS: Micro-loan up to $500 to cover housing and/or safety costs (damage deposit, rent, power payments/arrears, moving or storage costs, and phone/internet payments); Flexible and affordable repayment schedule based on individual means; Resource navigation and advocacy related to the loan process; Referrals to other organizations for broader needs.
PARTICIPANT INCLUSION: Trans and cis women, non-binary, and gender non-conforming persons; 18+; Recent experience of abuse or violence; Participant must have a source of income (wages, income assistance, and other government benefits eligible)

HOW TO ACCESS: Call, text or email to start the application process. This includes an initial screening call, an intake appointment, and a follow-up appointment. Applicants outside HRM must provide a referral letter from a local support agency.
