The Native Council of Nova Scotia is the self governing authority for the large community of Mi’kmaq/Aboriginal peoples residing off reserve in Nova Scotia throughout traditional Mi’kmaq territory. NCNS’s goal is to operate and administer a strong and effective Aboriginal Peoples Representative Organization that serves, advocates and represents the Mi’kmaq/ Aboriginal community.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The Parenting Journey is a home visitation program that provides individual support for families experiencing complex social and emotional challenges that may impact overall family functioning, parent-child relationships and the well-being and development of children and youth. Home Visitors visit families in their homes and/or in other community locations. They work collaboratively with families to build meaningful helping relationships while collectively identifying strengths, resources, challenges and priorities.
PROGRAM SUPPORTS: Parenting Journey Facilitator; Culturally safe services; Sharing programs/services that meet the needs of families; Child/Youth well-being and development; Parenting support; Family life management; System and program navigation.
