Native Council of Nova Scotia -Social Youth Outreach Program

The Native Council of Nova Scotia is the self governing authority for the large community of Mi’kmaq/Aboriginal peoples residing off-reserve in Nova Scotia throughout traditional Mi’kmaq territory. Our goal is to operate and administer a strong and effective Aboriginal Peoples Representative Organization that serves, advocates and represents our community.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The Youth Outreach Program supports the holistic needs of Aboriginal youth in realizing and achieving their goals when facing multiple challenges. This program assists youth in finding and utilizing the resources in partnership with community service providers to reduce barriers; Sydney location is wheelchair accessible.

PROGRAM SUPPORTS: Drop-in; Crisis management; Education of families/youth to encourage healthy lifestyles; Programs and workshops; Referrals and linkages; Mentoring; Accompaniment; Outreach; Family work/support; Cultural teachings.

PARTICIPANT INCLUSION: All Gender Inclusive;16-24; Living off reserve
