The Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre (MNFC) is a non-profit, board governed organization that currently operates nine core programs. The mission of the MNFC is to provide structured, social-based programming for Urban Aboriginal People while serving as a focal point for the urban aboriginal community to gather for a variety of community functions and events.

MENTAL HEALTH AND SUBSTANCE USE COUNSELOR
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The Mental Health and Substance Use Counselor provides mental health and substance use counselling for clients of the Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre.

VICTIM SUPPORT NAVIGATOR
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The Victim Support Navigator (VSN) is a supportive resource whose services are primarily aimed to support women who have been victimized by all forms of violence. The VSN uses holistic practices and a trauma informed approach to improve the lives of Urban Aboriginal peoples with respect and empathy. Services include: referrals, smudging, connections to cultural practices, advocacy, awareness, hosting vigils for MMIWG2S, navigation to other appropriate services, collaboration with other community services.
